Position Description 

Tesla is looking for an ambitious and solution driven Environmental Compliance Specialist to support our growing network of Tesla Businesses across EMEA – Sales, Service & Delivery.
Reporting to the EHS - Environmental Sustainability & Compliance Leader EMEA, the primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate and improve Environmental Sustainability & Compliance initiatives plus standards across Tesla EMEA.

This role’s primary focus is on environmental compliance applicable to Tesla's business operations as governed by EU Directives, local legislation and Tesla’s internal standards. The purpose of this role is to achieve compliance and control risk within legal and regulatory requirements as well as the company’s standards on environmental and sustainability aspects across EMEA facilities.

This role is operational and technical in environmental areas and will support the Environmental programs implemented, such as Waste Solutions, Environmental Aspects Compliance and deploying solutions to drive sustainable operations.

The ideal candidate is a system thinker who has project coordination and implementation experience, is environmentally enthusiastic, and is a solution seeker, with an analytical mindset and can navigate through both strategies and operational implementation. The candidate will work closely with EHS leaders, facilities, global sustainability, and local teams across all Tesla business channels.

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will be required to work independently on projects requested. The candidate demonstrates organizational skills and analytical abilities, attention to detail, as well as desire for professional growth and is data driven. 

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as environmental subject matter expert for EHS leaders, facility managers and design managers.
  • Support the prioritization of local environmental compliance needs, assisting in solutions development.
  • Perform environmental impact assessments and advise the business on site due diligence planning.
  • Support coordination of environmental (permit) compliance implementation & program improvement.
  • Support coordination of EHS communication with stakeholders to increase environmental awareness.
  • Support the existing program structures and expand on the EHS compliance and sustainability solutions.
  • Support the global annual sustainability report initiative following the global criteria and local guidance.
  • Coordinate the waste management set-up and operations support needs for Tesla across EMEA.
  • Update and implement waste management requirements and implement waste efficiency initiatives.
  • Report to and collaborate with EHS compliance leader on implementation status, gaps, needs and risks.
  • Direct and manage consultants used for permitting and compliance governance solutions. 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Science related discipline.
  • Experience with environmental compliance aspects, program coordination and data management.
  • Experience working as an Environmental Specialist, coordinator or similar role within EMEA.
  • Practical, proactive, hands-on experience with driving environmental compliance efficiently.
  • Experience in project management implementation of procedures, legal requirements and standards.
  • Environmental analysis skills, organizational skills and coordination skills in a daily business operation.
  • English language skills, with the ability to communicate both at a professional level and informally.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to positively and orderly interact with stakeholders.
  • Have a resilient and team player personality, with a solution-driven mindset and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and working in a highly fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform duties independently and remotely with minimal supervision.
  • Ideally hold a valid driver’s license.

Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
