Job overview
WBCSD’s Equity Action team is looking for an intern to provide support across the team’s Equity Action program and the work of the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality.
The Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI) is a cross-sector, multi-stakeholder coalition of organizations and their leaders with the mission of mobilizing the private sector to tackle inequality and generate shared prosperity for all. The BCTI is coordinated and powered by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Key agendas are described in our BCTI flagship report (w ww.tacklinginequality.org) and include five main workstreams:
- Social Performance & Accountability
- Human rights due diligence
- Diverse, Equitable & Inclusive workplaces and value chains
- Living wages & Incomes
- A ‘just transition’ into a nature positive and net zero future
Responsibilities and duties
- Support the management of working groups operating under the Tackling Inequality project at WBCSD including 1) B4IG Incubator with 5 member companies 2) Promoting Living Wage
- The Incubator’s mission is to support the design of innovative social projects developed by member companies, that may have the potential to create impact at scale. Supporting these projects involved facilitating the sharing of knowledge on inclusive practices, helping project teams to design inclusive business projects and preparing them for the scale up phase, create opportunities for partnerships within and beyond the coalition.
- Working with the Director, Manager and Associate to support elements of Human Rights and Worker Well-Being
- Coordinating member engagement including Working Group meetings and SteerCo meetings including schedules and summary discussion / action notes
- Supporting and coordinating team outreach and engagement for key external meetings and a series of BCTI Regional Roundtables
- Support delivery of communications plan for key audiences
Qualifications, skills, and experience
- University degree in a discipline related to Sustainability, Business, Economics or International Development
- Strong academic knowledge of the principles of sustainable development and social justice
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and deliver on project deadlines.
- Proven research and analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Microsoft Office and SharePoint proficiency.
- Good organizational skills to anticipate, plan, organize and self-monitor workload.
- Perfect fluency - both written and oral - in English (any other language is a plus).
This is a full-time position for six months, starting as soon as possible, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The role reports into one of the Equity Action team’s Project Managers and forms an integral part of WBCSD’s efforts to define and advance impactful business solutions to advance shared prosperity.
