Position Description 

The Outreach and Marketing Intern for the Rapid Rehousing Program will help to raise awareness of the programs that UCSB and the local community offer to help support low income students, especially those without safe and stable housing. This student will help to come up with unique ways to ensure that students who face housing insecurity are aware of the programs available to them. Some of the programs that this position might help promote include a housing voucher program, summer housing incentive program, transitional housing program, and many community based programs supporting housing insecure folks. All promotions made highlighting partners or external resources will be made after consultation from and approval by said partners.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Co-Manage the UCSB Rapid Rehousing Facebook and Instagram pages 

* Develop reels for Instagram

* Develop promotional materials on canva highlighting resources for UCSB students without safe and stable housing. We will have a separate graphic designer for the more complicated pieces, so this is really just the day to day development of flyers and instagram posts.

* Create and give presentations on housing insecurity and resources to address it 

* Meet with stakeholders across the campus and off campus to discuss ways to better promote resources for UCSB students without safe and stable housing 

* Develop powtoons on housing resources through collaborations with campus and community housing programs 

*Develop Digiknows to increase campus wide awareness of programs and services focusing on housing resources 

* Attend outreach and tabling events to promote housing insecurity 

* Do full length presentations and class raps (brief announcements at the beginning of classes) to promote housing resources 

* Collaborate with partners to ensure that the messaging we use accurately and appropriately represents their programs 

* Develop and execute other creative ideas to promote housing resources

Minimum Requirements:

* Savvy with social media and willing to use social media for this internship

* Comfortable giving presentations to large groups of people

* Comfortable tabling

* Have strong writing skills

* Have creative marketing ideas

* Thoughtful and empathetic in the way in which they engage others

* Experienced in cross cultural communication

* Open to learning canva and powtoon design (or skills in doing so)

* Must be available to intern Summer 2023 through June 2024

* Must be a UCSB student through June 2024 and not traveling abroad in the 2023-2024 school year.

* Must be available for in person meetings

* Must be willing to follow all campus COVID and other safety protocols.

Preferred requirements:

* Experience working on issues of housing insecurity and with communities of people experiencing a lack of safe and stable housing

* Experience using canva 

* Experience using powtoons

* Demonstrated success with social media campaigns
