Snowy Plover Docent Internship
Position Description
Our docents play a crucial role in this success by educating the public about Snowy Plovers and ensuring that the protected areas are free from trespassing and dogs. Docents spend their shifts on Sands Beach teaching visitors about the threatened status of the Western Snowy Plover. Docents also ask beachgoers to avoid sensitive habitat areas and exercise their dogs at another location. The training will focus on the ecology of Snowy Plovers, their habitat needs, and successful strategies for communicating with the public.
To sign up for the training, please email copr.conservation@nrs.ucsb.edu
